Product Description

This Aladdin DVD is a Soar away on a magic carpet ride of nonstop laughs and thrills in one of the most spectacular adventures of all time! Now meticulously restored and enhanced – experience the wonders of Aladdin like never before – from the Academy Award-winning music* to the unforgettable moments of sidesplitting comedy and soaring adventure. In the heart of an enchanted city, a commoner named Aladdin and his mischievous monkey Abu battle to save the free-spirited Princess Jasmine from the schemes of the evil sorcerer Jafar. Aladdin’s whole life changes with one rub of a magic lamp as a fun-loving, shape-shifting Genie appears and grants him three wishes, setting him on an incredible journey of discovery.

Prime.me.uk Review

Disney’s 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman) and there’s an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams’s frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin’s genie. Even if one isn’t particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams’s improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar’s parrot). –Tom Keogh

Classic film – ordered if for our four year old as a change from the super fast paced kids films that tend to be on offer now. Has stood the test of time, he loves it and we have to watch the songs on repeat. Arrived in perfect condition and was cheaper than in the shops. Very pleased.

A huge success when it was first released Aladdin has lost none of its fun. This really is the ultimate family movie. The animation mixes tradional drawn art with the odd bit of cgi wizadry, and this new remaster looks amazing. The story is inspired by that of the short story from one thousand and one nights (as told by Scheherazade). Its obviously had a few adaptations, and most are familiar with the tale. Here it gets the full Disney treatment. That means big bold characters, evil villians, comedy, romance, redemption and of course some epic songs. The star of the show here is the magnificent Robin Williams who voices the genie. His wacky voices, great comic timing and heart-felt delivery really makes this film.To me Aladdin is one of the greatest of Disney’s films. Its certainly up there with the Lion King and The Jungle Book. If you want a Disney film that ticks all the boxes then this is it.

We all loved this, children aged 4 & 8. Hubby never watches a movie all the way through without falling to sleep, but this he loved as much as the children and I did. Totally recommend. I wasn’t sure if it might be a little scary in places for our youngest, but not at all.

Mad laugh out loud filmLoved it when it was first released and time hasn’t changed my opinion.I watch it now with granddaughters now so overjoyed that im not looking at this through rose tinted glasses.Robin Williams who can, in my opinion try to be tooooo funny, and therefore come across as a tit, has it just right here as the genie. The animation is spot on and the whole film is a pure joy.Disney back on form after a few so so releases prior to this.Fit for a new generation to enjoy.

One of my favourite Disney films. It’s a compelling story with strong and likable (or hatable!) characters. However, what really stands out in this film is the music. The song-writing combination of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice can be beaten. In fact, this was the last musical that Ashman was involved with as he passed away in 1991, before the movie even hit the cinema. There was a touching tribute to his work at the end of the credits for Beauty and the Beast: “To our friend, Howard, who gave a mermaid her voice and a beast his soul, we will be forever grateful. Howard Ashman (1950-1991)”. Aladdin is a shining example of Ashman’s witty and playful lyrics, which played perfectly against Alan Menken’s music.

Funny, clever, brilliant animation and some awesome big dance numbers. Will Smith leads without taking over. Loved every second both at the cinema and at home.

Fantastic movie and one of many well known classics from Disney. The unique animation and well narrated story speaks for itself. Voice acting was great, especially the funny bits from the genie character, voiced by the late great Robin Williams. Very little extras on this DVD I’m afraid, but there is a good sing-a-long included so that fans both young and old who know the songs from this film can sing along as it plays. You can never get these out of your head, even if you wanted to. The songs and the storyline is exactly that you would expect from Disney films from the past and it is always an memorable treasure worth keeping to keep the whole family entertained when the need is required.

This is an old film so if you’re looking to buy it it’s for one of 3 reasons:1) you were born in the early 80’s and remember this as a child.2) you’re a Disney freak and are trying to catch them all like Pokemon.3) you are a Robin Williams fan.In any case buy this film, release the inner child and enjoy what is arguably one of the best Disney films ever made.Funny, clever, well directed, well voiced, with good songs and a good story (plus arguably one of the best Disney villains) it’s a great Sunday afternoon film. What’s even better is kids of today seem to love it as much as the kids of the early 90’s when it was released. The Blu-Ray version is good they’ve done a great job upscaling it and the soundtrack sounds great too.A great dose of nostalgia.
