Good to have for an extended camping holiday. Good also in case of power outage. Shame the inverter isn’t of a higher wattage.

I like everything about this product, especially it’s no frills design. It will easily power a microwave, charge a full sized vacuum cleaner, a laptop, ipad, 3 phones a walkie talkie and a radio every single day… from 2 ancient 275 watt house PVs wired in parallel. It never drops below 4 bars of power, even on full days (early April). The caveat? Initially it would not charge from solar at all. I checked the polarity of the supplied lead and the centre pole on the plug was wired to -ve dc lead rather than positive… i.e. the supplied cable was wired incorrectly in reverse polarity. I cut the wires in the middle and re-joined them with a splice the other way around… now perfect! Some other users have had similar problems but don’t seem to have checked this.

Let’s start off with what’s great about this battery: you get 2.4kWh of battery, an ac mains inverter, a bunch of DC outlets, and an mppt solar charger, all in a handy yet sturdy package that’s ready out of the box all for a low bargain price. You cannot get all this from separate components for that price. It’s just not possible!I’ve run my house for 48hours using this, including lights for one room, laptop, fridge freezer and central heating, with daytime recharging from a 375W solar panel in february.I’ve run my entertainment system, including Yamaha audio receiver most evenings in spring time. It has no trouble handling this.I’ve run my desktop machine along with three monitors on full load for an entire evening. I still only use 50% of the battery.I can even run my corded Dyson DC40 for a few seconds (1100 Watts, good for 30 seconds). Now for the not so good:1.Surge current handling is weak. My fridge freezer draws 70 watts on load, but the startup surge current is such that my battery will trip out 5 times out of 10.2. While not essential, there’s no attachment point for a separate earth cable. There are circumstances where “portable” generating equipment becomes “mobile” generating equipment. Under this use case, the IET recommends a TT earthing arrangement.3. charging time is slow. Only 215 watts on mains power. It’ll take all day to recharge. This isn’t a big problem, but it depends on your usage requirements.

İt doesn’t have as many fancy features as some power stations but it is a work horse and has a big capacity. İt was just what I needed to tide me over when we have a poor charging day when the eb70s İ have run out of steam. İt can handle having a number of solar panels attached to it so I can place them to make the most of the available light and ooch it over the 16w it needs to get charging in low light as early as possible in the day and as long as possible in the evening in my rather too shady garden. The only trouble İ have had with it is that it’s inverter seems to eat into it’s own 1000w capacity so that it can’t power my microwave which draws 986w according to the eb70 that does power it with it’s own 1000w inverter.
